Hurricane News

Hurricane Laura ripped through Lake Charles and caused damage to all five Autism Services properties. On August 24th, the Lake Charles Mayor called a mandatory evacuation and all our clients were safely evacuated to other cities with direct support staff to care for them.

Our agency secured temporary housing for our residents in the nearby community of Jennings, LA. We were able to mostly furnish two rentals and stock the houses with supplies from local donations. We continue to incur additional costs as we support staff driving to and from Jennings to work, rent appliances for the homes, and pay monthly utilities at the temporary properties.

We continue to keep our clients healthy and safe, and we will rebuild their homes while they are well cared for in temporary housing and with their families.

Any support to help offset these costs is appreciated. Thank you for your support of our mission to provide housing and support services to adults who are diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities in Southwest Louisiana!
